Just a girl and a love for art.
Ever since I can remember I have always enjoyed expressing myself artistically. Painting, drawing, and crafts were always things I could easily get lost in. My childhood was difficult and even at times traumatic... I used my creative outlets as an escape from all the bad things that often surrounded me.
My sewing journey began in the Spring of 2018. One day while pregnant with my first son I had put the idea in my head that I was going to sew something for the very first time for my daughter. After watching countless YouTube videos and tutorials I asked my best friend if I could borrow her antique sewing machine. That night I created a pair of floral knit leggings. Were they far from perfect? Yes. Did I succeed at the task at hand though? Also yes.. they were wearable!
Crafting something for my daughter and having the pleasure of knowing it was something I made for her immediately sparked my love for sewing. Not long after the leggings I created her first dress (the one you see pictured in the heading of this page). At the time, we had a maternity shoot approaching as we prepared to welcome our baby boy into the world. Of course like any girl-mom, I wanted Ramsey to match me for these memorable moments. I ran to the craft store and grabbed a soft blue material, crochet lace, buttons, and a bottle of fabric dye. Yes, I even dyed the lace to match my gown.
I will forever be proud of the teeny little dress and bloomers I made for her in those moments. It was then that I knew I wanted to continue creating beautiful things and eventually share them with the world. Not only does this career choice allow me to share my new-found passion with others, more importantly it gives me the ability to support my three children and give them the life I wasn't able to have. For that I am utterly and indefinitely grateful.
